Bio-Security

At the 2007 OHTG annual conference, bio-security was a main topic with 2 seminars involved. Discussion of the ramification of Foot and Mouth Disease procedures, infection models, and practical how to tips regarding cleaning, disinfectants and label reading were presented. An infectious disease outbreak protocol is under consideration by the OHTG advisory committee for presentation at the 2008 OHTG conference.

Most hoof trimmers clean their equipment according to the clients' specifications in order to be allowed on the farm. It is a big help if the farm has a powerful enough power washer to allow the trimming equipment to be cleaned on site before leaving the farm.
