Currently there are no regulations per se that directly involve hoof trimmers. Regulations involving animal care are more on the farm owner and the veterinarian profession. Hoof trimming in Ontario is not a regulated industry. However, there are pieces of legislation and codes that do require hoof trimmers to be aware of. Dairy Farmers of Ontario farm inspectors are able to mandate a herd have its feet trimmed if the inspectors (which are trained) deem the condition of the animals unfit for the purpose of producing milk for consumption (see below link).
